A heartfelt THANKS to my clients and to all website visitors

Ethereal Flowing Shape

In appreciation,

below I share with you some personal

experiences reflecting my all-time favourite

quotes and perspectives.

"Look beyond the numbers"

Floating Desk Items

I first heard this wonderful quote from Al Harrison, the fictional Space Task Group lead in the movie Hidden Figures.  It's something I keep in mind when supporting clients with data analytics, I too seek to "Look beyond the numbers".

All of us who are responsible for data should be looking deeper to understand it. But it's not just understanding what the numbers are telling us, it's having the ability to see where they are taking us. That's really what this quote means. If nothing else changes, where will you end up? Does it align with your goals? does something need to change?

As much as possible, data insights should guide our advice, decisions, goals and strategies. I encourage us all to be fluent in the language of information within our organisations and industry. Knowledge truly is power.

"What would make it possible?"

One of my absolute all-time favourite questions to live by.

That whole question flips thinking on its head. When I realised it was totally critical for my business to have a website, but I didn't have the money to pay to have it built and I had zero experience with websites, I found myself asking that question, "What WOULD make it possible?" As it turns out the answer to that question was a great app (WIX), online tutorials, late nights and wonderful family and friends who were happy to give feedback.

I first heard that quote from an interview of incredible John Aaron in the Apollo 13 Bonus 2 episode of the 13 Minutes to the Moon podcast which is a podcast series from the BBC World Service. All seasons of that series are EPIC, inspiring, educational and highly recommended.

The launch of this website into the eerie vastness of the internet was especially helped by the talented Rachel Pettigrew. Thanks Rach!

"Back yourself"

Astronaut On Alien Planet

A new chapter in life can be phenomenally daunting. Backing yourself is truly the BIGGEST gift you can give yourself. I've had times with no money or resources. Times when things felt completely insurmountable - not an uncommon situation when you start a business. But at those times I was able to lean back into this quote, to give myself the permission to try and gift myself the confidence I needed to start.

But don't get me wrong, this isn't about big ego's and thinking you are better than everyone else. To me backing myself is about courage, perseverance and humility. It's knowing I don't have all the answers but I can ask a lot of questions and I will find what I need to go forward.

The "Back Yourself" advice was gifted to me by a dear friend, Dave Hawkey.  Dave has had a wonderful career across a number of significant NZ CEO positions. Over that journey he learnt that no matter what your role is, it is critical to back yourself. Now when I encounter a challenge I find myself thinking, Back Yourself and then What would make it possible? They're a fabulous power couple.

Thanks Dave

"Change is a constant"

A constant does not change.

However, it is also true that change is a constant.

The symbol delta (a triangle) represents change.

Knowing that change is a constant, how do you handle it?

Are you curious?, do you ask a tonne of questions?, are you constantly learning, growing, experimenting and testing? Can you persevere, apply what you have learnt and then repeat it over and over?

This section is really a reminder for me, and maybe it is for you too. With the abrupt changes in technology how am I keeping up? Is my mindset helping or hindering me? Am I open to change? am I curious, questioning, persevering and taking action? Is the change in me matching the moment?

I encourage myself to embrace Delta Me

Are you wondering...

Why are there SPACE images and references in a remuneration website?

Well, this is me, sharing a bit about myself with you.

I am fascinated by the universe and the BIG questions. I am also so impressed at what humanity can do when we work together as Team Earth. When skills, experience and deep trusting collaboration creates an environment that supports the rise of high performing teams.

Teams that back themselves,

that look beyond the numbers,

that ask questions and then more questions,

teams that make it possible

to touch the stars
